For those walls we line up the 5 1 2 inch mark with the end of the plates and mark out the first stud location. If the joists are parallel to the new wall adjust the layout so that the wall is directly under a joist. Gallery walls design in 5 minutes. Use a chalk line to mark where you want to place the new wall along the floor. The walls that start inside another wall are a bit trickier.
